CSU invites you, our K-12 Colorado Educators, to join us on campus for four days to learn about movement and dance education, along with innovative ways to integrate what you’ve learned into the Academic Curriculum. Guest speakers, university faculty, and education specialists present the latest research and tools to help you to reach more students, offer innovative ways to teach our core curriculum, and learn about how our state is supporting our efforts.

Seminar topics include: Let’s Move! Dance Skills, Concepts and Comprehensive Learning; Dance Movement Science and the Human Brain; Colorado Dance Standards, Assessment, and Curriculum Planning; Dance Collaboration across K-12, Higher Education and the Broader Community; and Integrated Arts Initiatives in Education.

CSU dance faculty members Jane Slusarski-Harris and Lisa Morgan will lead the seminar along with guest speakers including Karen Kaufmann, professor, author, and director of the Creative Pulse Graduate Program for Teachers at the University of Montana; Judi Hofmeister, president of the Colorado Dance Educators Organization and Poudre School District Board President Tom Balchak with Laurel Elementary Principal Tommie Sue Cox. Additional presenters will include arts educators from CSU and across Colorado as well as education and integrated arts specialists focused on bringing movement into the classroom.

Outcomes of the seminar will include developing classroom materials/tools, collaborative research and practice, and sustaining partnerships between primary, secondary, and university faculty. Teachers may sign up for Colorado State University continuing education credit (fee required) for teacher enhancement purposes. Seminar enrollment is limited to 20 Colo. K-12 educators.
