SUMMARY:2018 Spring Dance Concert
DESCRIPTION:On behalf of the entire faculty of the Dance program at the Sch
ool of Music\, Theatre and Dance at Colorado State University\, you are in
vited to a reception on Saturday evening\, April 21st honoring the thirty
years of service of Jane Slusarski-Harris. Jane has served as the program
head for Dance for three decades\, during which time she shared her unwave
ring passion for the art form and nurtured and trained hundreds of student
 s. This gathering will immediately follow Saturday evening's Spring Dance
Concert in the main lobby of the University Center for the Arts. We hope t
hat you will join us for a wonderful evening of dance\, followed by this c
elebration of our esteemed colleague and friend! Light refreshments will b
e served.\n\n“As director of dance\, I am delighted to invite you to our
Spring Dance Concert during my last semester at CSU\,” said Jane Slusar
ski-Harris\, who retires at the end of the academic year. “This is a spe
ctacular production created by our exceptionally talented faculty\, staff\
, and students. With contributions from CSU musicians\, choreographers\, p
erformers\, designers\, and technicians\, this concert of variety and pure
fun will captivate your body\, mind\, and spirit!”\n\nOn the concert\,
Madeline Harvey\, assistant professor of dance\, reimagines her original w
ork Komorebi (Japanese for sunlight filtering through the leaves of trees)
. Set to Max Bruch's Kol Nidrei\, the choreography explores themes of loss
and hope and was inspired by real-life stories from members of the Nation
al Organization of Parents of Murdered Children. Amber Mazurana\, IMPACT D
ance Company and CSU faculty member\, recreates These Moments with live mu
sic by CSU staff pianist David McArthur. Originally created for IMPACT Dan
ce Company in 2017\, Mazurana continues exploring the subtle to abrasive m
oments that define our lives\, exposing our shared humanity and essential
need of support. The concert also includes faculty members Madeline and Ma
tthew Harvey’s premiere their Original Contemporary Pas De Deux\, as wel
l as a performance by the Contemporary Repertory Ensemble class\, under th
e direction and choreography of Judy Bejarano. Join us! CSU System Passpor
 t eligible.
