We are excited to announce a free virtual Community Dance Workshop led by CSU dance majors.
All classes are held via zoom. No prior dance experience is needed, but registration is required.
Choose 1 class per day. Separate registration is required for each day. Only one engagement form is needed per participant. Please indicate titles for all class selections under “Activity Type.” Registration will not be approved until you have completed this form: Engagement Form
Monday, April 26 4:30-5:30 pm
Day One
This beginning level modern class will be centered around finding breath and weight to release tension, encouraging dancers to move more efficiently. We will explore these ideas alongside technical concepts such as head-tail connection and proper pelvis and foot alignment. In the final combination, students will be asked to explore their own personal narratives and push their artistry while utilizing the technical concepts presented in the class.

Moving Swiftly Through Small Spaces — Contemporary Ballet
This class is centered around building strength, stability, and musicality in order to individually develop a beginner level connection between ballet technique and contemporary artistry.

Community Jazz
Exploring beginner level jazz technique. Through a warmup, technical skills combinations, and a short final dance, students will develop skills such as footwork, balancing, and isolations.

Beginner Jazz Class
Throughout our jazz class we will tailor combinations to work on isolations, performance quality, and give opportunities for students learn to use their body in a cohesive manner.

Movin’ and Groovin’
This class is designed to work on strength, coordination, flexibility, and confidence, giving dancers a taste of ballet and modern training. Dancers will experience a warm-up, technique work, a final combination, and will end with a cool down. Let’s get our groove on!

All That Jazz
This class will introduce beginner level jazz technique by progressing through a warm-up, technical exercises, and a final combination. It is appropriate for all age groups and experience levels. Join us for an energetic, fun 60-minute class!

Dance in College Seminar:
High school students are invited to learn more about life as a college dance major. Current Colorado State University students will share insights about the audition and application process, adjusting to campus culture, coursework, and possible career trajectories.
Recommendations
Dress to move (athletic or gym wear) with ballet slippers, jazz shoes, modern toe paws, non-grip socks, or barefoot. Try to find a room with as much open space as possible and clear your path of any tripping hazards. Please position your device to include as much of your body in the camera frame as possible.
