Body/Speak: Dance Community Collaboration

Body/Speak is a community concert featuring guests from the region. We aim to support artists and build networks within our dance community. Companies and choreographers in Colorado and Wyoming are invited to apply to show work in the Body/ Speak concert on February 20th and 21st, 7:30 p.m. We also welcome choreographic works from Colorado or Wyoming universities and colleges. All dance-based works under 12 minutes are welcome to apply. Companies may also submit multiple applications*.

Applications are due October 31, 2025. A $25 application fee is applied to support production load and artist stipends. Chosen companies/groups/schools will be awarded an honorarium following the concert.

*Each application requires an application fee. If submitting more than one choreographic work, multiple fees are required.

  • Dance works can be completed or in progress, however all works must be finished one month prior to the concert in order to facilitate production needs.

Application:

  • Briefly tell us about your company, group, or college. What is your mission as a group?
  • Please provide a brief explanation. If available, you may link a video for reference. *A full video of the work will be requested one month prior to the concert for production needs if the work is chosen.
  • If submitting a finished work please submit a video link. If submitting a proposed/work in progress, please provide a link to previous choreographic work(s).
  • We aim to bring artists together to create a positive and supportive environment in which to present dance to the public. How will your company, group or piece support this mission? What community values are most important to your company?
During our time together, we have a tradition of creating an “Instant Dance” in which participants build a dance together, created collaboratively while guided and directed by a choreographer. This is an opportunity for us to create and dance together in the same piece, choreographed on the spot! Instadance will rehearse for 2 hours in the afternoon following the master class on Saturday, Feb. 21st. Anyone who is interested in participating in the Instadance is welcome! Participation is not required but highly encouraged!
