Featuring Artist-in-Residence Taipei (AIR Taipei) in Taiwan
As the culminating dance performance of the school year, the concert features the creativity of dance faculty, students, and special guests in a variety of styles. This spring, the Dance program hosts a special international residency with renowned dancer Hsin-Yu Kao through the Taipei Artist Village. Mr. Hsin-Yu Kao will begin his residency at CSU March 23 working with dance classes and choreographing for the Spring Dance Concert on April 10 & 11. The purpose of this international residency that is to promote a better understanding of other cultures, people and art forms; as well as to build global and cross-cultural communities through dance.
Born in Taiwan, Hsin-Yu Kao currently dances with Compagnie Käfig, a French dance company that grafts not only different dance genres but multiple disciplines together with dance, including live music, circus arts, and martial arts. This residency at CSU is funded by the Artist-in-Residence Taipei (AIR Taipei) in Taiwan and is made possible through the generosity of Colorado College Asian Studies Program, Professor John Williams; Professor Joan Ericson; Professor Yunyu Wang, who is professor at Colorado College, dean of General Education College at Taipei National University of the Arts, and also president of the World Dance Alliance; and Ms. Amy Huang.
