[Re] framed embodies themes of individuality, choice, connection, and growth. Exploring a vast array of lived experiences, five senior dance majors come together to create a lexicon of physical expressivity. Their choreography urges audiences to reflect on themselves, their communities, and to find the groove within continuous change. Join CSU Dance in celebrating Chalina Caton Garcia, Hector Gandara, Camryn Martin, Layla McRae, and Brianna Smith as they premiere their capstone dance concert.

Chalina Caton Garcia
Chalina’s work explores the concepts of independence, individual force, and the power of choice. It challenges the viewer to consider the juxtaposition of a longing for autonomy with a desire for connection. This current creation moves to highlight unique skillsets through a fusion of styles and a collaborative process.
Hector Gandara
Hector’s choreography tells the story of longing for change and breaking from repetitive struggle. In his piece, he delves deep into the connection between emotions and movement. Through a series of rhythmic shapes and patterns, Hector represents unique capabilities for dance to transcend words.
Camryn Martin
Camryn’s choreography examines individuality and how each person’s set of life experiences combine to make them whole. Her work considers how we find similarities and where our interpersonal connections create new, meaningful exchanges. Camryn’s work aspires to bring extreme beauty and power to life.
Layla McRae
This focused collection of movements explores the vulnerability of various life phases. Raw emotion and powerful dancing leads audiences through confronting and overcoming hardships, cherishing important connections, finding inner peace, and moving towards the future with strength. The work’s message is revealed through intensive choreography and passion on stage.
Brianna Smith
Brianna’s work investigates the struggle to achieve self-confidence through life’s tribulations. The choreography models the progressive growth discovered when self-worth is found within our innate qualities. Brianna’s work proposes a nurturing and supportive community, in which we can discover confidence in our own capabilities and can bring out the strengths of those around us.
