CSU Dance collaborations continue during the pandemic

CSU Dance is collaborating with areas and faculty members across the University Center for the Arts on a new digital project.

Judy Bejarano, long time CSU Dance faculty, artistic director of Impact Dance Company, and recipient of the 2020 Legends of Dance in Colorado award is creating a film titled "She" that will be included in the Gregory Allicar Museum of Art exhibition The Other 50%: Women's Voices in the Public Sphere. The exhibition runs Sept. 12 — Nov. 15, 2020 and can be viewed by appointment.

A short preview of the film features Impact dancers, including CSU Dance faculty members Madeline Harvey and Susie Garifi, as well as CSU Dance alumni Maggie Jung and Jenna Smith: CSU Theatre staff member Cooper Adams is joining Bejarano to shoot and edit "She" a work choreographed for camera.

"I think this is a rich example of the arts thriving amidst the pandemic and of the industry and academy supporting one another," said Madeline Harvey, assistant professor of dance. "The work Judy does is always timely, evocative, and captivating to watch and be a part of."
