CSU Dance presents three works by the late Salvatore Aiello. With an illustrious performance career spanning the 60s and 70s with dance companies such as Joffrey Ballet, Royal Winnipeg Ballet, and Hamburg Ballet, Aiello went on to become artistic director of North Carolina Dance Theatre until his untimely death in 1995. During his tenure, he created dozens of works, some of which remain available today for performance or reconstruction. “Sal’s work is timeless. It provides an ideal framework within which dancers can explore and develop unique artistic voices,” says assistant professor Madeline Harvey.

After a successful decade in the state-of-the-art building, there is much to celebrate and the festivities kick off with a 10th Anniversary Celebration and Open House on Sunday, Sept. 23, 1-3 p.m. The event features the University Center for the Arts (UCA) in action, showcasing performance, studio, exhibition, classroom, design, and clinical spaces. Guests will have the opportunity to experience CSU music ensembles, dance classes, theatrical rehearsals, museum programing, technical production workshops, costume fittings, and many other hands-on activities throughout the afternoon. The open house is free and open to the pubic.

CSU Dance invites intermediate to advanced students and professionals to attend a FREE Ballet masterclass with Jerry Kumery, Ballet Master, Richmond Ballet Curator, Salvatore Aiello Trust Répétiteur, The George Balanchine Trus. Participants must be age 11 or older with a minimum of four years of ballet training.
